BROTHER
by Kiera Martens
How happy I was for you, little brother;
that you did not wait to be fully formed
before your entrance to this world of ours.
How joyful I was for you, little brother;
that you will never see the pain or suffer
the chaos of life in the house that was ours.
How relieved I was for you, little brother;
that you would never see my shame,
the rage, or our angry misfocused family.
How happy I am for you, little Brother;
that you may be in a place of peace, away
from this world we would have shared.
